About the Client

Our client is a top-tier broker-dealer headquartered in New York City, offering a full range of financial services and trading solutions. They are looking to hire a talented DevOps Engineer to join their tech team, with a focus on automating infrastructure and managing configurations using Ansible.

Role Overview

We’re hiring a seasoned DevOps Engineer with strong expertise in Ansible to lead automation and configuration management initiatives. You’ll play a key role in upgrading the company’s infrastructure, aligning with strict financial compliance standards, and supporting high availability and secure environments.

Main Responsibilities

Automation & Configuration Management

  • Build and maintain Ansible playbooks for consistent infrastructure setup across environments.

  • Spearhead migration efforts from legacy tools to Ansible-based systems.

  • Create reusable Ansible roles, collections, and modules to enable scalable automation.

  • Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions to streamline and standardize deployments.

  • Implement systems to detect and correct configuration drift automatically.

Infrastructure Operations

  • Partner with infrastructure teams to automate provisioning, deployment, and environment setup.

  • Integrate Ansible workflows into CI/CD pipelines for seamless automation.

  • Enhance uptime and disaster recovery readiness via automated infrastructure strategies.

  • Monitor infrastructure performance, security, and compliance continuously.

Security & Regulatory Compliance

  • Incorporate security best practices into all automated workflows.

  • Use Ansible Vault and enterprise tools for secure handling of credentials and secrets.

  • Conduct security audits of automation and apply remediations as needed.

  • Maintain thorough documentation and logs to meet audit and compliance standards.

Team Collaboration & Leadership

  • Work alongside development teams to embed configuration into deployment workflows.

  • Mentor junior engineers on Ansible usage and best practices.

  • Collaborate with compliance and risk teams to ensure automation aligns with financial regulations.

  • Contribute to troubleshooting and incident response involving configuration issues.

Required Skills & Experience

Technical Expertise

  • 5+ years in DevOps or infrastructure engineering roles.

  • Advanced knowledge of Ansible (including Galaxy, playbooks, modules, roles).

  • Strong Linux/Unix system administration experience.

  • Proficiency in scripting languages like Python, Bash, or PowerShell.

  • Experience with Git and version control platforms (GitHub, GitLab).

  • Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and container-based architecture.

  • Understanding of cloud services (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and hybrid setups.

  • Exposure to monitoring/logging tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Splunk).

Industry & Compliance

  • Prior work in the financial services industry is a plus.

  • Knowledge of regulations like SOX, SEC, FINRA.

  • Understanding of compliance automation and security frameworks.

  • Experience in disaster recovery and business continuity.

General Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.

  • Experience working in agile or fast-paced environments.

  • Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified in Ansible (e.g., Red Hat Specialist in Ansible Automation).

  • Familiar with Terraform or other IaC tools.

  • Knowledge of databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Oracle.

  • Experience with Puppet, Chef, or SaltStack migrations.

  • Understanding of trading platforms or market systems.

  • ITIL or similar framework knowledge.
