About the Role
3MD Inc. is seeking a DevOps Engineer for a 6-month hybrid contract in Redmond, WA. The engineer will be responsible for developing front-end APIs, optimizing wireless and internal network projects, and ensuring smooth integration across platforms. This role requires hands-on expertise with Ruby, Big Data tools, and cloud technologies while contributing to the full software development lifecycle in an agile environment.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs and reusable components.
- Utilize Ruby, Hadoop, Hive, Pig, and MongoDB on Linux platforms.
- Apply systems analysis techniques to translate client requirements into functional specifications.
- Build and document applications or modify existing systems to improve customer experience.
- Develop in an agile environment, providing timely deliverables to management and clients.
- Maintain scripts, test data, and simulators to support development.
- Deploy new modules, upgrades, and fixes in production environments.
- Troubleshoot existing systems, identify deficiencies, and deliver solutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align business and technical requirements.
- Ensure compliance with security, performance, and scalability standards.
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
- Minimum 2+ years of experience in software product development.
- Proficiency in Ruby or Python, Terraform, and GitHub.
- Experience in all phases of the software development lifecycle.
- Strong knowledge of RESTful API development and design best practices.
- Familiarity with Git for source control.
- Understanding of security concepts, performance, and scalability.
- Strong scripting and coding skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the wireless industry.
- Cloud expertise (AWS or similar).
- Agile development experience.
- Hands-on with MongoDB and Linux environments.
- Familiarity with MVC frameworks and single-page applications.
- Experience with data visualization and graph-building tools.
